Bravery or Stupidity?

post Why I hate Christmas that much

December 23rd, 2008

Filed under: Uncategorized — Kai @ 1:51 pm

Last year on 21st I expressed my contempt for Christmas briefly. With the hope that I don’t recur myself I’d like to write some lines also this year.

The lack of understanding really feels bad when outing yourself to be kinda “christmas-hater”, it’s elusive but true ;-)

I hate the way it makes people behave. I hate the shallow, fake little advertisements I see every damn place I go that tell me how by going into endless debt to buy shit for my family and friends I’ll somehow be a better person. I hate the lines in the stores, I hate how the decorations go up mid-October under the guise of “Holiday Spirit”. And I hate the people that buy into that sort of thing. They want your MONEY, you fools!

While we’re on the subject, I really hate how people can love Christmas and go all out. I hate how everyone remembers poor people and homeless people for two weeks and then promptly forgets about them again.

I’m in no mood for Christmas - I’m sick, sick, sick, of all the superficial cutsie little raindeer, snowmen, Santa Clauses, jingle bells, etc. Oh, excuse me just a moment while I wretch. I mean, driving by some houses looks like the light monster walked by and threw up all over the place. A very few are done well and are attractive but the vast majority are gaudy and asthetically unbalanced.

I vehemently resent all the expectations and demands placed on me at Christmas. I’m not poor but I’m not rich either, and I have bills to pay. There is an endless list of things I am expected to spend my money on - gifts for everyone, tips for all my service providers, food, Christmas Cards, interior and exterior decorations, lights, etc, etc, etc. It is financially irresponsible to buy gifts for everybody at the same time.

Instead of enjoying a few days of holiday everybody uses up an unbelievable amount of time and money on Christmas stuff. To me it’s just overwhelming crass commercialization and a waste of my time and money.

Fear

P.S.: Hey kids, Santa was the invention of Coca-Cola’s 1930s advertising campaign… HE’S NOT REAL!!!

post Yahoo Google become Partner for Advertising Deal

June 13th, 2008

Filed under: Uncategorized — Kai @ 8:10 am

It’s going into the next round - war of position in the world wide web.
The actors are well-known Microsoft, groundbreaking Google and the one that’s the reason for the struggle - Yahoo.

Yahoo Inc. is edging closer and closer to completely outsourcing its search advertising to Google Inc. This comes following a test run of the Google ad system, which both companies stated was very positive.

A deal between Yahoo and Google could give Yahoo a lot more leverage in terms of an asking price from Microsoft. The partnership could boost Yahoo’s revenue by $500 million a year.

Currently, the bid from Microsoft stands at $42 billion, but Yahoo believes the company is worth more.

The announcement comes on the same day that Yahoo’s future is once again called into question. Earlier today, activist investor Carl Icahn confirmed his intention to replace Yahoo’s board of directors in an effort to consummate the sale of the company to Microsoft.

Throughout the three dramatic months of resisting against Microsoft’s bid, Yahoo came forward with a series of announcements of new products, partnerships and developer initiatives. Today’s opening of the developer platform, after three weeks of a very limited preview, is the company’s first major announcement since Microsoft pulled its acquisition bid off the table.

Amit Kumar, Yahoo’s director of product management for search, said that SearchMonkey is at the center of the Yahoo Life initiative, where the portal is opening its doors to the developer community to recast itself as the crossroads of the social Web.

“Search engines so far haven’t taken full advantage of the fact that there’s all this structured data,” Kumar told InternetNews.com. “This is the beginning of the next generation of search.”

Finally we can wonder if Google, Yahoo are going to be the next dinosaurs.

post In 5 days it’s all over…

December 21st, 2007

Filed under: Uncategorized — Kai @ 8:50 am

I really hate Christmas time. Not just of all the sob stuff on the streets and excited people hunting for the last needed presents, also because of everybody meaning to be happy and being pretty to each to other. It’s not that i don’t like people being nice - but why just being nice ’cause it’s Christmas.

Actually it’s not just Christmas time that makes me going mad it’s also the frost and the snow. How can people say things like “How look at that snow on the trees, what a romantic atmosphere….” and I can just think of that snow on the trees means that I will almost freeze to death when going outside.

All in all I will breath a sigh of relief when those days are over…

...prove you love your family

post Another useless Blog…

I really don’t know why I decited to start a blog. Maybe ’cause I do like very much reading other peoples blogs about programming issues and stuff like that…

I’ll try to tell some things out of day (that’s what you’d usually do with a blog, heh?), but mostly about new (hopefully) interesting things about computers (especially programming).

Greets ;-)
